Did any of that love of Gunga Din pass on to you? It’s interesting, just considering the question more broadly, that I inherited almost none of my father’s tastes or interests. We were very close in a lot of ways, but read different books, liked different movies. And it was more than just generational. Even our tastes when it came to old books and movies varied.
I still have not seen Where’s Poppa? even though it’s been on my list of movies I’ve been meaning to watch for many years now.

My high school friends laughed inappropriately when Sam Jaffe is killed in mid-trumpet blast, causing a sour note as he collapses.
